Receiving a CNA training certification usually requires two months. The entire process takes three steps. First of all, a person needs to learn about the theoretical aspect of working in a hospital, clinic, or other healthcare facility. After he or she has a good grasp on the theory, it is time for hands-on experience. To ensure that a person has understood both the theory and the practical aspect, the state exam must be completed. When the exam is successfully passed, a person receives certification and is added to the Nurse Aid Registry.

Step 1: Completing at least 50 hours of theory

In order to receive CNA training certification, a person must first complete a state-approved theory course. These courses are offered by community colleges, certain schools, and they can also be taken online. The good thing about online courses is that if a person is busy one day, he or she can always make up for it the next day. Classroom courses are hard to make up, and a person cannot review them at home. The theory part is a preparation for what’s ahead – the practical courses. Before a person is allowed to work in a hospital, he or she must have the theoretical knowledge of how to handle biologically contaminated objects and what to do in specific situations.

Step 2: Completing at least 100 hours of clinical training

In order to be good at the practical aspects of a job, a person needs to be familiar with the theoretical aspect. Receiving a CNA training certification is preceded by completing a state approved practical training. This training cannot be completed online, as it is a hands-on experience. People are being taught and monitored by professionals, and they get to experience the atmosphere of working in a clinic. At this time each person can decide whether or not a job at a hospital is the correct career path. After completing 100 hours of practical training, the student is not ready to take the final exam.

Step 3: Successfully passing the state issued test

To ensure that each person has received sufficient education, the state issues a test. Some people have completed a course online, while others have done it at community colleges or specialized schools. A unified test guarantees that if a person hasn’t learned the requirements, he or she will not get a certificate regardless of where the courses were held. Passing the test is the last step to receiving the CNA training certification.

After a person is certified, he or she is recorded in the Nurse Aid Registry. This way each state keeps track of everyone that is allowed to work as a nurse aid. Becoming a CNA and receiving the certification is not hard – it can be done in three simple steps.

The internet has evolved dramatically during the last few years, and its evolution hasn’t stopped. Online courses are now available for a variety of subjects, CNA training included. Students can attend video lectures, use voice and video chat to communicate, participate in online forums, send assignments and papers online, and review every lecture whenever they have time. There are two types of online training available for those that want to be certified as nursing assistants. The first type is the full online course, and the second type is the partial online course. These courses, however, cover only the theoretical part of the licensing. A practical part must be completed as well, and that can be done in a clinic.

Full online CNA training

In order to be eligible for the state issued exam, a person must complete at least 50 hours of theory courses. Such courses can be taken online from the comfort of a person’s home. Online training is very valuable because talented lecturer’s can be recorded and broadcast through the internet. A lecturer may not always be able to attend a certain offline location, and a video conference will allow a very wide variety of speakers to present information. Online nurse assistant courses also permit a person to complete the requirements at his or her own pace. One day he or she can complete two lectures, while the other day only one. This provides a person with better time management options.

Partial online CNA training

Partial online training means that only some of the lectures will be available online. Some of the easier topics can be covered through a series of video lessons that each person can watch at home. More advanced topics, on the other hand, will be presented at a lab or a campus facility. These types of courses provide a good balance for people that don’t have a lot of time or are located in a different city and have to travel. While some can learn best by watching videos, for others a classroom experience provides the best results. This mix of online and in-class lectures offers a nice alternative for many people.

Online CNA training is constantly improving. A good internet connection is everything a person needs in order to attend different lectures, discuss issues through voice chat and forum, and deliver various assignments. In order to get certified, a CNA needs to complete a practical course, which can only be done in a clinic or other medical facility. The hands-on experience completes the theory aspect of the training. During the clinical training, a person is monitored and taught by a professional. After both training programs are completed, a state issued test will ensure that everyone has received the proper training and has learned all the required skills.

CNA training is the beginning of a career in nursing. The first step to becoming a Certified Nursing Assistant is signing up for a two week course. After this course is completed a student can take the state issued exam and get certified. Once the CNA training is completed, the next step is becoming a RN (Registered Nurse).

Completing the CNA training

People over the age of eighteen, who don’t have a record of abuse or neglect can sign up for CNA training. The training consists of two parts – theory and practice. Learning the theory behind something is very important. In some cases making mistakes isn’t fatal, but in the nursing field it can be. This is why before a student is let in a hospital, he or she must complete the theoretical training. After learning the basics, a student can start with the practical part of the CNA course. During this part he or she will be able to work in a hospital or clinic, while being supervised and trained by the medical staff.

Taking the state issued exam and getting certified

After completing the required hours of training, a person is now ready to take the final CNA exam. He or she will receive the test date and time through the mail. The exam is not hard for those who have completed the training. It consists of a quiz and a practical part. The quiz is multiple choice, and it usually takes between one and two hours to complete. After the quiz is completed, a student is now ready for the practical exam. It consists of performing a skill. Skills include making a bed, taking temperature, measuring vital signs, cleaning patient, helping a patient eat, etc. During the test, a person is usually asked to complete up to five different skills.

Becoming a RN

Becoming a CNA is not required for RN training. However, a person can decide if he or she wants to be a Registered Nurse by becoming a CNA and working in a hospital for a while. CNA training lasts only six weeks, while becoming a RN requires between two and four years. If someone is not sure whether or not a nursing career is the right choice, he or she can become a CNA. Being a nurses aid will provide the opportunity to observe nurses and talk to them.

CNA training can be the beginning of a career in nursing. Passing the exam and working as a CNA provides a person with a unique opportunity to become part of a medical team. The next step is becoming a Registered Nurse. This can be done at a nursing school, and it takes between two and four years, depending on the degree a person wants to complete.

Receiving a CNA certification usually requires two months.

In order to receive CNA certification, a person must first complete a state-approved theory course.

Receiving a CNA certification is preceded by completing a state approved practical training.
